  • Will Forster - Woking Community Hospital
    Article: Jun 8, 2017
Will Forster shares the below with Woking today:
Since the snap General Election was called, I have had the pleasure of meeting thousands of people across Woking - whether that's from knocking on doors, attending hustings, or people recognising me whilst I am out food shopping.
I have met so many people, from first time voters to lifelong Conservatives, who are unhappy with our current Government. Whether it is cuts to the police force, the struggling NHS, nurses being forced to use food banks, or the Hard Brexit agenda - people are angry. This is not the direction they want Britain to go in.

Have you heard from us? Our team of volunteers has been hard at work knocking on doors and delivering leaflets to every household in the constituency getting our strong, local and liberal cadidate, Will Forster's message across. This is a massive task for us and we have worked hard, without the access to major donours that our opposites have.

As the former Business Secretary I can't not intervene at this decisive moment in British politics.

In a speech this week I condemned the Tories and Labour for turning their backs on the economy, and explained that the Liberal Democrats are the only real party of business.

You don't have to take my word for it. Today the Lib Dems were endorsed by none other than The Economist. And a letter in the Financial Times from prominent tech figures also backs us.

Theresa May says "enough is enough" - but she forced through the cuts that lost us thousands of armed police and community officers.

As Home Secretary, she even accused the police of crying wolf over the impact of her cuts - and their fears that the public were being put in danger.

The truth is the Conservatives have failed to properly fund our police. Between 2010 and 2016 19% of Authorised Firearms Officers were cut - that's more than 1300 officers.

Liberal Democrat councillors in Surrey have slammed the Conservative Cabinet at County Hall for cutting vital services provided to young vulnerable adults across the county.

The cuts were decided at a meeting of the Conservative cabinet last week, with nearly £450K axed over the next two years from outreach services targeted at hard to reach young people in Surrey. The consultation period for the proposed changes was only 8 weeks in length, contradicting the County Council's own guidance known as the Surrey Compact, which recommends a 12-week consultation.

Will Forster introduces himself as the Woking Lib Dem candidate for GE2017. Will has always worked hard to support Woking and the people within it. As Woking's MP, he would always back local residents and represent their views.

Will's top three priorities would be representing Woking's views on Brexit, fighting for proper funding for our NHS and local social care system and stopping Surrey schools losing £37 million in funding by 2020.

New rules that prevent councillors from funding street lighting, grit bins and highway schemes from their own local allocation budgets have been heavily criticised by Liberal Democrat County Councillors in Surrey.

The rules, which were introduced by the Conservative-administration at the Annual General Meeting of the County Council held on 23rd May, prompted one Tory county councillor to speak out against their own Leader and several more abstained on a Liberal Democrat motion to drop the proposed change.

  • Teresa May - Nasty Party - Lunch Snatcher
    Article: May 22, 2017

With the announcement of the Conservative manifesto, Theresa May has shown her true colours. Woking Constituency candidate Will Forster commented, "Its hard to imagine a colder, more mean-spirited agenda."

There's no doubt about it: the Nasty party is back. The Tories are hitting families from cradle to grave by snatching school lunches from children and homes from the elderly.

The Liberal Democrats plan to break the grip of criminal gangs and protect young people by introducing a legal, regulated market for cannabis.

    Why are we doing this?

Because the current approach to cannabis has been a catastrophic failure.

Unregulated cannabis is freely available and widely used, generating significant mental and psychical health problems - especially for young people - who are being harmed by increasingly potent products.
