Will Forster is the Lib Dem Borough Councillor for Hoe Valley and County Councillor for Woking South. He leads the Lib Dem Group on Surrey County Council.
Will grew up in Goldsworth Park and Horsell, where he attended local schools including Horsell Church of England Middle School, Woking High School and Woking College. Will lived in Westfield for many years and he now lives by Woking Park with his partner Hannah and their sausage dog Toffee.
Will was first elected to serve his local community as a Councillor in 2009. He is now in his fourth term as a Borough and County Councillor, having been re-elected with increased majorities in the May 2021 elections.
On the Borough Council, Will is now the Council's Armed Forces Champion and on the Lib Dem Shadow Executive with responsibility for community grants. On the County Council, as well as leading the Lib Dem Group, he is Vice Chairman of the Resources and Performance Select Committee, on the People, Performance and Development Committee and a member of the Woking Joint Committee.
In 2018 to 2019, Will served as the Mayor of Woking, during which time he strongly supported the Borough's voluntary sector and raised tens of thousands of pounds for his Mayoral Charity, the York Road Project, which helps local homeless people.
Will stood to be Woking's Lib Dem MP in the 2019 General Election. Although he did not get over the line in Woking, Will led the Lib Dems to the party's best result in a decade. He finished a strong second with 31% of the vote, increased the party's vote share by 13% and slashed the Conservative majority to around 9,000 votes.
