For the last 18 years I have been pleased to represent you as one of your Borough Councillors. During that time, not only have I been chairman of the Planning Committee but also Mayor of Woking, as was my wife Rosemary. In my time as your councillor I have met many residents and discussed your concerns and have made sure you have been consulted on planning issues. I was the first councillor in the borough to encourage developers to discuss their proposals prior to putting in applications - Lamorna and Hascombe in Brooklyn Road was the first such application.

In fact in certain cases residents can now attend the council's Planning Committee and speak against proposals- something I was able to introduce some years ago despite opposition within the council. Residents have often expressed concern at the dismal state of Victoria Arch, with the pigeons and broken lights being a constant theme. The approvals for the new Barratts development at the Arch included a provision for money to be set aside for the construction of pedestrian tunnels alongside the road. I have been pushing for this to be brought forward to solve the problem once and for all. I have of course been involved in many local issues and have enjoyed the opportunity to meet you and residents groups to explain what is going on, and to try help resolve queries. Through the regular Focus leaflets and local letters I have tried to keep you informed all the year round, not just at election
