Woking Liberal Democrats
Councillor Liam Lyons
Lib Dem Borough Councillor Liam Lyons has asked Woking's Local Transport Committee to review the traffic lights along Guildford Road and Victoria Way. This was following complaints from a number of residents who regularly get caught in peak time traffic jams.
Cllr Lyons, one of two Lib Dem borough councillors for Mount Hermon West, has asked for the phasing of the lights to be looked at, in particular the pedestrian crossing by the Market Square, which seems to be out of sync with the other lights along the A320.
Liam said, "With at least eight sets of lights between the Sovereigns Pub and the Lightbox, it is important that Surrey County Council gets the phasing correct to avoid unnecessary disruption to commuters and visitors".
Surrey County Councillor for Woking South Will Forster welcomed the news and said, "This will also be a good thing for Woking's economy and the environment, as vehicles will not be stuck in traffic for long periods along that stretch of road".
The review should take place early in 2014.
