Woking Liberal DemocratsCommenting, Co-Chair of the Parliamentary Party Committee on Work and Pensions, Lord (Mike) German said:
"Too many sick and disabled people face barriers to independent living. We want to ensure they receive the financial and emotional support they need and improve access to employment and public services.
"As the Welfare Reform Act comes into effect it will be more important than ever to listen to and act on the feedback from charities and organisations representing the disabled to ensure we are providing the right support. There is still vital work to be done to ensure this happens. Liberal Democrats will continue to lead the way in this work.
"We welcome the £15m additional funding for access to work programmes but believe more can be done. While the Coalition has had to cut public spending to clear up the economic mess we inherited from Labour, Liberal Democrats will ensure this happens in a way that is fair and progressive. We are clear that no one should be without the support they need to live a full and independent life."
