Membership of the Liberal Democrats is now at more than 55,800
Since polls closed on Thursday more than 10,000 new members have joined the Liberal Democrats.
People are joining right across the country, and these are not just people who've been members before.
We're recruiting people who have never joined a party in the past but want to stand together against the things this Conservative government is already promising to do.
Following the agreement of the Federal Executive and the Liberal Democrats' returning officer, the timetable below has been set out ahead of the election of a new leader.
I always expected this election to be exceptionally difficult for the Liberal Democrats, given the heavy responsibilities we have had to bear in government in the most challenging of circumstances.
But clearly the results have been immeasurably more crushing and unkind than I could ever have feared.
To the 6,047 people who voted for me on Thursday, thank you. I'm sorry that we could not win over enough people to overcome the Conservative dominance that has engulfed Woking since 1950.
Many more thousands voted for our local council candidates and I am sorry that we lost such tremendous local councillors in Tina Liddington and Louise Morales. Happily Will Forster was re-elected and will continue as our group leader.

Chris Took, Woking Liberal Democrat's Parliamentary candidate for the forthcoming General Election, took a break from his campaign activity to swim 100 pool lengths (2.5km) in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Held over the weekend of 17-19 April, Swimathon 2015 welcomed thousands of swimmers to take on the challenge and go that extra length to help support Marie Curie provide care for people with terminal illnesses across the UK with hours of health care and professionals to support themselves and their families go through those tough times.
Chris Took, the Liberal Democrats candidate for Woking, has promised that he will oppose any future attempts to carry out fracking in his constituency if elected.
