Helen Evans, former head of safeguarding at Oxfam, made damning accusations about the lack of basic processes and disregard of serious concerns she raised, the substance of which were not denied by the Chief Executive.

The government must now accept that nothing short of a full and far-reaching enquiry into illegal sexual behaviour within Oxfam and across the wider aid sector, will do.

1. Saving lives
The NHS provides some of the best emergency care in the world. Although the NHS winter crisis has placed unprecedented pressure on our health service, the NHS has, historically, maintained an impressive standard of emergency care. Last year an astounding 23.65 million of us attended A&E. This number increases each year. Over the last five years A&E departments have seen a 7.2% rise in attendance. Yet despite this enormous pressure, A&E staff display tireless dedication during gruelling 12-hour shifts and regularly go above-and-beyond the call of duty.

Last night, in a bumper crop of by-elections the Liberal Democrats made a hat-trick of gains and huge increases in the vote in a brace of others:

The Lib Dems have accused Ray Morgan, the Chief Executive of Woking Borough Council, of acting as a spin doctor when he offered to write the local Conservative's literature in the forthcoming local elections, despite senior Council staff being required to be politically neutral.

The Chief Executive's offer was meant to be solely for the Tory Leader of Council, but Ray Morgan accidentally copied this to a member of the public who sent the correspondence to the Woking Advertiser and Get Surrey.

Rough sleeping in England rose by 15% in the year to autumn 2017, according to new government figures.

A 15% rise in rough sleeping is shameful and shows the Conservatives have failed to take real action to tackle the housing crisis.

The number of rough sleepers is hard to record and so these figures are likely to be an understatement of the full extent of the crisis.

Until the Government commits to the funding needed to prevent homelessness and builds more genuinely affordable homes, and invests properly in mental health care, the number of rough sleepers will continue to rise at a shocking pace.

This is why I'm putting tackling rough sleeping, and the wider issue of homelessness, at the heart of my leadership of the Liberal Democrats.

Liberal Democrat county councillors in Surrey have launched a petition calling for Surrey County Council to abolish its charges for residents disposing of DIY waste - known locally as the "Tory Tip Tax". The petition follows a consultation from the Government announcing that they oppose the principle of councils charging residents for disposing of DIY waste and will consider changing the law if councils continue to charge. Surrey County Council introduced these charges in September 2016 despite overwhelming opposition to the charges in the responses to the County Council's consultation.

Most women have experienced some kind of harassment in their daily life at some point.

This is not acceptable, this is not okay.

This isn't about making a new crime, it is a hate crime definition that allows for information gathering, it encourages reporting, and means the police can have more intelligence about where misogyny is happening and when it increases.

There is a real problem with violence against women and this would help give people the confidence to report it.

The government must urgently spell out its aims from the second phase of EU negotiations and on transitional arrangements, the Lords EU Financial Affairs Sub-Committee has warned.

The committee has warned of market fragmentation and financial instability if the UK loses access to the EU through no deal, particularly damaging Britain's financial services industry.

Goldman Sachs boss Lloyd Blankfein, for example, warned this week that it is reaching a point in contingency planning where it will be too late to stop the group from leaving the UK.

This is a serious warning from a respected committee. Philip Hammond's comments this week that the UK and EU economies will diverge only 'very modestly' shows he is desperate to reassure the City that nothing is really going to change.

But obviously things will. Serious business people will, therefore, be assessing their options, including whether or not to relocate to other EU countries.

The Conservatives must stop their infighting and at least draw up some kind of coherent plan on what they want from Brexit talks.

Liberal Democrats on Surrey County Council have criticised the Conservative-administration for budget proposals containing £54m of further cuts to services and a 6% council tax rise. The budget recommendations will be approved by the Council's Conservative Cabinet on Tuesday 30th January, and then by the County Council on Tuesday 6th February.

This morning I attended the Single Market Summit, the start of a cross-party initiative between opposition leaders to oppose the Conservatives' hard Brexit.

To the anger of many Labour MPs - and to my great disappointment, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn refused to attend.

What is disappointing is that the Labour leadership has declined to take part in this summit
