These will be my priorities as a councillor too." MOHAMMED BASHIR SPEAKS TO LARGE AUDIENCES IN MAYBURY AND SHEERWATER
Mohammed Bashir and the Liberal Democrats have been speaking to very large audiences in Maybury and Sheerwater. On 25 February, he spoke to a packed audience at the Alpha Road Community Centre where he highlighted his plans for Maybury and Sheerwater should he be elected. He also criticised the lack of work being done by the 3 Conservative Councillors (including the County Councillor) to improve the area. Mr Bashir was supported by several speakers including the Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesperson, Cllr Rosie Sharpley and the Woking Lib Dem Chairperson, Cllr Denzil Coulson. Mr Bashir also spoke to a packed audience at the Sheerwater Community Centre on 18 March. MAYBURY AND SHEERWATER LIB DEMS LAUNCH PETITION TO CUT CRIME
Maybury and Sheerwater Liberal Democrats launched the national campaign to cut crime locally in Sheerwater. On Saturday 3 February they organised a crime stall outside the Sheerwater shops informing people about the campaign and asking residents to support the 5 Steps to a Safer Britain. These steps are: MORE POLICE ON PATROL - Don't waste billions on ID cards. TAKE BACK OUR TOWN CENTRES - Let communities close pubs and clubs that cause trouble. MAKE SENTENCES MEAN WHAT THEY SAY - Life should mean life. COMPULSORY WORK AND TRAINING IN PRISON - To cut reoffending. BETTER COMPENSATION FOR VICTIMS - Paid for by prison work.
Maybury and Sheerwater Liberal Democrats are going door-to-door asking residents to sign the petition which will be presented to 10 Downing Street. At the crime stall, 140 signatures were collected in the morning alone. DOWNLOAD THE WE CAN CUT CRIME LEAFLETS. Mohammed Bashir - Local Election Candidate for Maybury and Sheerwater

This is what I have always done wherever I have lived. I serve on the Woking Shah Jehan mosque committee as well as a local welfare association. I have actively worked to improve our community even if it has been simply a matter of reporting litter or vandalism to the local authorities." "The reason I have decided to put myself forward as a councilor for this ward is that I feel that it has been poorly served by some of the current councilors who don't appear to be listening to or engaging with the residents concerns. I want to represent all the sections of the community but to do this I need to listen to your concerns first. In the coming weeks I will be attempting to meet as many of you as possible to get yours views." "I want to be your local voice in the council so that I can help each and everyone from the young to the elderly, the disabled, the disadvantaged, and the deserving as well as support the local business community." Mohammed Bashir's priorities for Maybury and SheerwaterTo make Woking a cleaner, greener and safer place to live and work. To introduce door collection of glass for recycling. To address the dangerous state of many of the footpaths especially for the elderly and those who use mobility scooters. To make sure that Woking is safe from vandalism, intimidation and drug related problems by pressing for more frequent police and community support officer patrols.
To build on the neighbourhood initiative introduced by the Liberal Democrats, introducing regular neighbourhood meetings and local budgets with councillors listening to residents concerns. The provision of more social housing which is fit for the purpose Better support for the elderly. Help for the long term disabled and unemployed and more apprenticeships for the youth and redirect them towards better social hobbies. Better money management in this ward as too much money is wasted and very little is shown as end result To support the schools in Maybury & Sheerwater and work to provide better nursery facilities.
