All Change for Woking in 2010
2010 gives the voters of Woking a unique chance to change the politics of the town and help change the national scene in 2010. On May 6th we will have elections for Woking Borough Council. On the same day it is very likely that we will have a General Election. In both contests the voters of Woking can send a clear message that they are fed up of the stale and corrupt politics of the two main parties. On the Borough Council the Tories have 18 seats to the Lib Dems 17. Any gains by the Lib Dems could see them take control from a discredited administration.

Woking needs a local MP
Woking has not had an MP who lives here for nearly 50 years! The Tory candidate lives in Godalming.
In the General Election it is a straight fight between our probable candidate Rosie Sharpley, a nursing practitioner who has lived and worked in Woking for over 30 years and the Tory candidate, a marketing consultant who lives south of Guildford. In the County Council elections last year the Lib Dems were less than 2000 behind the Tories. Labour are finished here with no councillors, coming fourth behind UKIP.

"The Budget must clearly spell out where Labour intend to make spending cuts in order to tackle the budget deficit. All we have seen from the Prime Minister today is more waffle" said the Liberal Democrat Shadow Chancellor today.

Rosie Sharpley expressed concern today at the recent report by the Electoral Commission about voter registration. Rosie said "I was particularly concerned by the finding that 56% of people between the ages of 18-24 haven't registered. I can understand why young people are alienated from the political process at the moment, but I hope many will realise in time that this election does have great potential to change the politics of the UK for good. If elected I will vote for fair voting so that every vote in every election counts and we can end the two party duopoly of Tweedledum and Tweedledumber."

"Anyone who wants to pass laws in this country should pay this country's full taxes and not hide behind the special offshore status of non-doms. Non-doms have to tell the taxman that their first allegiance is to another country. No-one should be a British lawmaker whose first allegiance is not to Britain. "
Chris Huhne, Liberal Democrat Shadow Home Secretary

"I think people are entitled to expect a sensible, stable government at a time when the country is facing very, very acute choices. We take what the markets are worrying about immensely seriously. We will not take any risk with the creditworthiness of the economy. "
Nick Clegg, Leader of the Liberal Democrats
Financial Times - 3 March
