MOHAMMED BASHIR SPEAKS TO LARGE AUDIENCES IN MAYBURY AND SHEERWATER

Alpha Road Community Centre Meeting

Mohammed Bashir spoke recently to a large audience gathered at Alpha Road Community Centre in Maybury.

Mohammed Bashir and the Liberal Democrats have been speaking to very large audiences in Maybury and Sheerwater. On 25 February, he spoke to a packed audience at the Alpha Road Community Centre where he highlighted his plans for Maybury and Sheerwater should he be elected. He also criticised the lack of work being done by the 3 Conservative Councillors (including the County Councillor) to improve the area.

Mr Bashir was supported by several speakers including the Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesperson, Cllr Rosie Sharpley and the Woking Lib Dem Chairperson, Cllr Denzil Coulson.

Mr Bashir also spoke to a packed audience at the Sheerwater Community Centre on 18 March. Clearly residents in Maybury and Sheerwater desire a change from the Conservative complacency that they have endured for so long.

MORE POLICE ON PATROL - Don't waste billions on ID cards.

TAKE BACK OUR TOWN CENTRES - Let communities close pubs and clubs that cause trouble.

MAKE SENTENCES MEAN WHAT THEY SAY - Life should mean life.

COMPULSORY WORK AND TRAINING IN PRISON - To cut reoffending.

BETTER COMPENSATION FOR VICTIMS - Paid for by prison work.

Elect Mohammed Bashir for Maybury and Sheerwater

Mohammed Bashir is married with four children and he has lived in Maybury & Sheerwater for 15 years. He is a local Businessman. His children all go to school locally. He has been an active member within the local community's affairs for many years and thus has a good solid experience of its issues and concerns.

As a resident in the ward he feels able to serve you as an effective Councillor should you elect him. He says:

"I have a passion for helping people who need it. This is what I have always done wherever I have lived. I serve on the Woking Shah Jehan mosque committee as well as a local welfare association. I have actively worked to improve our community even if it has been simply a matter of reporting litter or vandalism to the local authorities."

"The reason I have decided to put myself forward as a councilor for this ward is that I feel that it has been poorly served by some of the current councilors who don't appear to be listening to or engaging with the residents concerns.

I want to represent all the sections of the community but to do this I need to listen to your concerns first. In the coming weeks I will be attempting to meet as many of you as possible to get yours views."

"I want to be your local voice in the council so that I can help each and everyone from the young to the elderly, the disabled, the disadvantaged, and the deserving as well as support the local business community."

Mohammed Bashir's priorities for Maybury and Sheerwater

To make Woking a cleaner, greener and safer place to live and work.

To introduce door collection of glass for recycling.

To address the dangerous state of many of the footpaths especially for the elderly and those who use mobility scooters.

To make sure that Woking is safe from vandalism, intimidation and drug related problems by pressing for more frequent police and community support officer patrols.

To build on the neighbourhood initiative introduced by the Liberal Democrats, introducing regular neighbourhood meetings and local budgets with councillors listening to residents concerns.

The provision of more social housing which is fit for the purpose

Better support for the elderly.

Help for the long term disabled and unemployed and more apprenticeships for the youth and redirect them towards better social hobbies.

Better money management in this ward as too much money is wasted and very little is shown as end result

To support the schools in Maybury & Sheerwater and work to provide better nursery facilities.
