CLLR ROSIE SHARPLEY ELECTED TO FIGHT TO BE WOKING'S FIRST LOCAL MP IN 43 YEARS

Woking Lib Dems have appointed Cllr Rosie Sharpley as their Parliamentary Spokesperson. Rosie and two other candidates addressed a packed Hustings last Saturday.

Rosie has lived in Woking for nearly 30 years, has worked in the NHS locally for 20 years and has been a councillor for Goldsworth for 18 years. She has a passion for Woking and its residents and believes that her long experience will be of benefit to the community. She is well known for having a raw enthusiasm for campaigning with a reputation for not letting go. She stood for Parliament in Horsham in 2005 achieving one of the best results for the Liberal Democrats in the South East taking votes from both Conservatives and Labour.

Rosie says "I have served Woking in very distinct ways over many years which gives me a unique insight into the lives of Woking people.I look forward to using my knowledge and skills at this level and challenge both the Conservatives and Labour on their policies which affect all of us. We will challenge them on the unfairness of the tax system on their solutions for climate change and on civil liberties"

Cllr Sue Smith , Leader of the Liberal Democrats on the Council said "We are delighted that Rosie has been elected as PPC and look forward to continuing working with her for the benefit of Woking people"

Mary Laker Constituency Chair of the Woking Liberal Democrats said:

"Rosie's experience will add to and compliment the Liberal Democrat successes already achieved locally she has a strong reputation of getting things done with a common sense approach."
