Lib Dems use their own "MeetUp" for green tax action week

The Liberal Democrats are using an online organising tool similar to MeetUp.com - which was made famous by Howard Dean's Presidential campaign - to organise environmental campaigning across the UK.
The party is organising an action week on 21st-29th October as part of its Green Tax Switch campaign. To help encourage and organise local campaigning around the UK during that week, the party is using FlockTogether.org.uk - an in-house developed tool which allows Liberal Democrat campaigners to publicise events and lets supporters and members of the public easily find events that are happening near to them.
People can enter their postcode and then browse a map showing all the events near to them, and they can also register for automatic updates by email in the future when new events or meetings are added to the site.
Chris Rennard, the party's Chief Executive, said, "This is another innovative use of technology which demonstrates our commitment to using the internet to help our members campaign effectively - and to engage with the wider public."
