RESULTS NEWSFLASH - LIB DEMS WIN WOKING

May 5, 2006 8:47 AM

Woking Liberal Democrats gained 3 seats from the Conservatives to become the largest party on Woking Borough Council. Gains included Horsell West, Mount Hermon East and Knaphill. Disappointingly, Lib Dems were short of one more gain in Byfleet by just 2 votes! The Conservatives gained Maybury and Sheerwater from Labour. The new composition of the council is as follows:

Liberal Democrats 18 (+3)

Conservatives 15 (-2)

Labour 3 (-1)

Lib Dems won 8 of the 13 available seats that were up for election. Your newly elected Liberal Democrat Councillors are:

Goldsworth East - Bryan Cross (re-elected)

Goldsworth West - Denzil Coulson

Horsell West - Gareth Davies and Richard Sanderson (re-elected)

The Hermitage and Knaphill South - Ken Howard (re-elected)

Knaphill - Richard Sharp

Mount Hermon East - Norman Johns

Mount Hermon West - Sue Smith (re-elected)

The full detailed results have been officially published on the Woking Borough Council website at www.woking.gov.uk. See our homepage for the direct link to these results.
